History of the bowl
In 1971, nine visionaries founded the Fiesta Bowl, making Arizona's first college football bowl game a reality. From its first year until 2006, the game was hosted at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. Since 2007, it's been held at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Start the festivities early by attending the Fiesta Bowl Fan Fest Pregame Party before the match. The Fiesta Bowl Parade, which includes marching bands from high schools as well as the two universities participating in the Fiesta Bowl participating in the "Cactus Bowl," is not to be missed. There's also floats, equestrian units, and a seven-member queen and court. This tradition started back in 1973. Arrive for the game and cheer for your favorite college team as they score touchdowns and complete hail mary passes.
State Farm Stadium, formerly known as University of Phoenix Stadium, is a multi-purpose football stadium located in Glendale, Arizona. It seats 63,400 spectators and opened in 2006. It is the home of the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL) as well as the Playstation Fiesta Bowl. Take the time to admire this truly modern stadium, which features the first fully retractable natural grass playing surface built in the United States, on top of an AirField Systems drainage system. An opening on one side of the stadium allows the playing field to move to the exterior of the building, allowing the entire playing surface to be exposed to daylight and for the floor of the stadium to be used for any other purpose, such as seating for concerts or to accommodate motorsports events, without damaging the turf. It also has a retractable roof.
State Farm Stadium is located in the Glendale Sports & Entertainment District off the AZ Loop 101 Freeway between Bethany Home Road / Cardinals Way and Glendale Avenue. There's ample parking in the area, with over 14,000 parking spaces in numerous car parks available.
