Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Rock out in this museum dedicated to paying tribute to the legends of Rock and Roll music and chronicling its history. The iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum has exhibits, interactive kiosks, and collections from some of the most influential rock musicians. 

Started in 1983 by Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has inducted over 200 bands and artists into its hallowed halls since that date. More than 500,000 people visit the museum annually to enjoy artifacts and displays relating to famous musicians in the rock genre.

Walk This Way

From classic acts like Chuck Berry to modern legends like Metallica, the hallowed halls of this music hall of fame invite fans of rock across all generations and tastes. Learn about how and why artists are inducted into the Hall of Fame and check out iconic pieces of gear from your favorite artists. The museum houses unique artifacts such as Johnny Cash's 1979 touring bus and Kurt Cobain's Fender guitar. From Elvis to the Beatles, the museum contains instruments, outfits, and accessories used by artists during the peak of their careers. With four theaters, several interactive areas, and seven floors of exhibits to uncover, you'll be able to spend a whole day exploring the stories of the genre's best artists. 

Cleveland Rocks 

Cleveland has several credentials for hosting such an iconic museum. Local DJ Alan Freed is credited with coining the term "rock ‘n' roll" on his integrated radio show in 1951. In 1952, the country's first official rock ‘n' roll concert, would be held in Cleveland. The legendary radio station WMMS-FM is credited with helping to launch the careers of some of rock's biggest names, including David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, and Fleetwood Mac. 

We Will Rock You

It's not all exhibitions and archives. The Rock Hall offers special concert events like the annual Catch Meaning Music Fest in May, as well as a very popular summertime outdoor concert series. Every two years, the biggest stars in rock history are inducted into the Hall of Fame, making for a wonderful event if you are in Cleveland at the time. 

Visit the gift shop to pick up diverse gifts and souvenirs such as guitar pick earrings, T-shirts, shot glasses, and, of course, music. Grab a gourmet coffee, beer, wine, or soda and enjoy a meal inside the Rock Hall. The All Access Cafe is open to visitors without an admission ticket and features fresh food from some of Cleveland's hottest local chefs, You can even plug in your phone or laptop there.
