Every member of the Virginia Horse Center considers the center and foundation to be a community partner. In addition to providing a venue where residents can enjoy equine events, the Virginia Horse Center shares its grounds with the community, from the utilization of the mezzanine for meeting space to the larger facilities and grounds for the Farmer's Market, youth agriculture, and the County Fair.
Visit the Virginia Horse Center
The Virginia Horse Center is becoming much more than just a place to bring your horse to show. The primary focal point of the Virginia Horse Center features the Howard P. Anderson Coliseum - a 4,000 seat indoor coliseum centered on the gracious Waldron Arena. Measuring 150-feet by 300-feet, this arena is host to "AA" rated and local horse shows, training clinics, concerts, rodeos, horse pulls, and even sporting events. With a clay base, its natural sand footing provides for a sound experience for both rider and horse.
Numerous outdoor covered arenas
In addition to the coliseum, the Virginia Horse Center also features a series of outdoor covered arenas including, the Moore Arena (sand/clay mix), the Fletcher Arena (bluestone base/natural sand), the Fletcher Adjacent Schooling (bluestone base/natural sand), the Wiley Arena (kruse cushion ride footing), the Northern Arena (bluestone base/natural sand), the South Campground Schooling (bluestone base/natural sand), the Dressage Arena "A" (bluestone base/natural sand), the Sandy Gerald Ring (kruse cushion ride footing), the Wheeler Arena (bluestone base/natural sand), the Tardy Arena (bluestone base/natural sand), and the East Complex Schooling Ring (bluestone base/natural sand).
Barn stalls and facilities
The Virginia Horse Center is known for its safe and well-maintained stalls. There are four, stall-dedicated barns bordering the stable office and Welcome Center that hold 120 stalls each. Barn eight is adjacent to the East Complex and holds 122 stalls. The remaining barns, The Big Lonely, Woods Hill, and Bent Tree Barn are laid-out around schooling rings and hold 49, 46, and 48 stalls respectively. The VHCF also has the capability to set up temporary stalls for large events. All barns have internal wash stalls and dedicated manure pits. Stalls are uniformly 12-feet by 10-feet with 7.10-feet tall walls and doors that are 5.78-feet wide.
