Radisson Hotel Group Americas today announced the signing of the international license agreement for Radisson Hotel Paramaribo with ownership group Kersten Hotelmaatschappij N.V., a fully owned subsidiary of C. Kersten en Co. N.V. (“the Kersten Group"). The Kersten Group was founded in 1768 and is an established, diversified, and sustainable group of companies in the republic of Suriname, situated in the Northern part of South America.

The license agreement marks Radisson Hotel Group Americas’ first hotel in Suriname and illustrates the company’s continued strategic growth focus in South America. The hotel’s location in Suriname’s capital city, Paramaribo, is near both the Suriname River and North Atlantic coast featuring beautiful Dutch colonial architecture and a vibrant culture.

Prior to its anticipated opening in Q2 2023, the hotel is undergoing an extensive $8 million renovation to provide state-of-the-art amenities and a chic modern design to its guests.

“We’re so proud to be introducing the Radisson brand to Suriname, offering our guests a unique destination with lush rain forests, beautiful coastal views and a rich history,” said Frances Gonzalez, vice president, Operations, Latin America, Radisson Hotel Group Americas. “Our team is dedicated to driving growth in South America and the Caribbean with outstanding hotels catering to every type of traveler while creating memorable moments during their stay.”

The hotel will offer an anticipated 126 guest rooms, including suites. Guests will be able to enjoy an outdoor pool, fitness center, and the brand’s signature RBG Restaurant. The hotel will also serve as a venue for meetings and special events in its multipurpose ballroom and conference rooms. Located in the center of Paramaribo, the hotel is within walking distance to the downtown shopping area, restaurants, and bars. Additionally, it is just four blocks from the Jules Wijdenbosch Bridge, which crosses the Suriname River and connects the districts of Paramaribo and Commewijne. The bridge, which is 1,504 meters long, offers incredible views of the Suriname River and the capitol.
