Planet

Sustaining our beautiful world for travellers to enjoy

Think planet

It’s in our interest to support the preservation of natural resources and destinations: great travel experiences are our bottom line. In addition to Radisson Hotel Group Americas company-wide initiatives, we believe the travel and hospitality industry and other partners can be a force for good together. We participate in significant collaborative initiatives to help build a better planet for all, enhancing our ability to deliver the value our customers expect.

Carbon reduction

Responsible Business - Wind farm

Radisson Hotel Group Americas is committed to finding energy solutions which reduce our negative impact on the environment while balancing the need for 100% guest satisfaction. Participating hotels support this commitment through investment in environmentally friendly technology, use of renewable energy, and achievement of operational efficiencies. For example, 6,000 LED lights have been installed at the Radisson Blu Hotel Oslo Scandinavia (Norway).

Carbon neutral meetings

Responsible Business - Green meeting

In addition to focusing on minimizing our carbon footprint in rooms and restaurants, Radisson Hotel Group Americas is committed to providing carbon neutral meetings while balancing the environmental, economic, and social impacts of our clients’ business needs.

Water conservation

Responsible Business - Water consumption

Addressing the challenge of managing global water resources and providing everyone with access to clean drinking water is important to Radisson Hotel Group Americas. With a special focus on water-stressed areas, participating hotels focus on minimizing water consumption by installing water saving technology and engaging guests and employees in water saving activities. The Radisson Blu Resort Sharjah installed a root irrigation system, reducing water use by 30 percent.

Minimizing waste

Responsible Business - Volunteer

Radisson Hotel Group Americas works to reduce, reuse, and recycle and share best practices in this area. We work with suppliers to reduce waste and increase recycling. Because of its global and local impact, reducing food waste is a particular focus, with an eye on purchasing, kitchen preparation, plate waste, and spoilage. Country Inn & Suites by Radisson’s chinaware program targets waste reductions from disposables.

Responsible sourcing

Responsible Business - Hotel staff

Much of a hotel’s environmental impact is generated through products and services that are sourced in the building design process, the delicious food and drink we serve, and in our laundry services. From sustainable seafood to cleaning products, we partner with like-minded suppliers committed to doing business responsibly. Through thoughtful sourcing of products, we can cut a participating hotel’s water and energy consumption for laundry by more than 20 percent.

Ecolabels

Responsible Business - green leaf

Radisson Hotel Group Americas values the third-party certification of our hotel’s sustainability efforts, as it ensures our achievements are fully transparent and credible, and it assists our hotels in identifying areas of opportunity. We work with recognized global ecolabels, such as Green Key, which audits hotel performance. We also participate in leading green hotel programs, such as TripAdvisor’s GreenLeaders program. More than 450 Radisson Hotel Group Americas hotels have green labels.

Responsible Business - Plant

Partner focus: First Climate

Our partner First Climate offers one of the most extensive portfolios of climate protection projects. Radisson Rewards members can donate their points to support the carbon reduction project of Florestal Santa Maria, Brazil. With 71,000 hectares, it’s the only area in the municipality of Colniza in the state of Mato Grosso that preserves all native forests and is one of the very few locations in the country that implements sustainable forest management.
