Fighting hunger in the Midwest
Omaha, Minneapolis Headquarters, and Twin Cities managed hotels joined forces this December to help fight hunger in the Midwest. Their efforts benefited Second Harvest Heartland (in Minneapolis) and Food Bank for the Heartland (in Omaha) as they work to alleviate hunger in local communities.
;WHY HUNGER Why did our colleagues choose to fight hunger?
Hunger resonates deeply with who we truly are: hoteliers. Food and caring for other is at the heart of what we do, every day.
Hunger is the #1 cause that we, as employees, want to fight (Minneapolis and Omaha corporate employee survey – Oct 2017).
1 Child out of 6 in the Midwest are at risk of hunger.
;THE OUTCOME
Over 270 employees volunteered through a four-day period, collecting and packing approximately 68,000 lbs. of food for their local communities. Alongside monetary donations and company matching, this resulted in nearly 100,000 meals provided to the communities , 15,000 of which were already in the pantries two days after packing.
